JOB SUMMARY
• The role involves implementing Health and Safety requirements and corporate health & safety standards among Elpreco plants and General Contracting sites.
• Responsibilities include Support with definition of the OH&S strategy and programs, investigating accidents, participating in meetings, updating instructions, and facilitating implementation of safety standards across the Elpreco.
• Deliverables include comprehensive Health and Safety strategy, training materials, accidents/ incidents/ high potential learning events investigation and reports, safety indicator reports, and health and safety audits.
• Job requirements include technical education, intermediate English, 10 years of managerial experience, proficiency in MS Office, and relevant certifications.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizational Framework
• Ensure that Elpreco follows health and safety practices in line with legal compliance and industry guidelines.
• Develop, administer and maintain an effective health and safety management system.
• Organizes and conducts safety meetings (Safety SteerCo; Safety Committees; High potential learning event Reviews; Event Learning Teams)
• Prepare and follow up on departmental budget.
• Technical advice the management team, provides counsel on complex health and safety issues.
• Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information (leading and lagging safety indicators, KPIs).
• Ensure Group procedures and reporting are effectively followed up.
• Ensure compliance according to local legislation, applicable ISO standards and CRH requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, quality, and logistics, to ensure alignment and coordination across the organization.
People
• Develop training programs and awareness campaigns to mitigate risks and increase knowledge.
• Build and improve the leadership skills and the succession pipeline for all the key roles within the Health and Safety department.
• Ensure safety communication campaigns.
• Promote and role model the cultural values of CRH– respect, inclusion, collaboration, speak up, compliance and ethics.
• Train, manage and guide personnel on Health and Safety topics.
• Provide support to leadership team, fostering a proactive culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Performance management, training, and development, planning and organizing, motivation and coaching of employees to establish a culture that builds on high standards of safety.
Continuous Improvement
• Build and assist in the implementation of Safety improvement plans.
• Identify process bottlenecks and review if necessary specific processes.
• Ensure company compliance with CRH Life Saving Rules
• Consolidate the safety culture withing organization, having a proactive approach.
• Support with OH&S strategy and programs within Elpreco.
• Guarantee and foster compliance with OH&S. Establish safety culture and tackle specific actions to ensure health prevention during production activities. Support Management and Line managers on all H&S topics.
• Continuously analyse current situation and make proposals to improve Health & Safety even further in all areas of activities: production, transport, Sharing and Learning within CRH Group, application of Hierarchy of Control.
Workplace hazards
• Moderate accidents investigation to reveal the root causes and develop mitigation or corrective actions.
• Identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions.
• Analyse incident reports, metrics and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
Growth
• Oversee integration process of future acquired businesses.
• Support in Implementation of major industrial / capex projects or maintenance with zero harm to the people involved.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Technical higher education.
• Intermediate level of English.
• 10+ years of Managerial experience.
• Driving license B
• Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams.
• Availability for business travel: at least 25% of working time
• Skills: good communication & presentation skills, leadership, ability to influence, well organized, teamwork and collaboration, pro-active and self-dependent
• Certifications: Risk Assessor post university degree, 80-hour SSM Inspector, Technical Frame for Fire Protection.
